Navigation FAQ

Why can't I do the converter thing myself and save a lot of money?

Because even if you have the technical skills and the knowledge. You do not have the benchtester equipment needed. This equipment is not available on the market.

What navigation systems do you support?

We try to give full service to all big USA cars. We focus on Chrysler and GM cars.

MyGIG have a Sirius radio what is that?

Sirius is an American radio system working over satellite. It offers a huge amount of programs and sport channels. It is a paid service. Sirius also offers backseat TV. European viewer cannot listen.

Can you make my DVD-player region free on my GM navigation?

In general yes! But you must check which type DVD player you have. This means that you have to remove the DVD player and read on the backside.

When you convert Chryslers MYGIG system will the DVD be region 2 or region free and will it stay that?

In general yes! It will be region 2. However, the DVD region and radio system is actually set in the car configuration (CANbus system). What we do is that we "tell" the MYGIG not to listen to the CANbus system in the DVD-region matter. However, in some rare cases, for a myriad of reasons, it can happen that the CANbus system reset the DVD region to 1. If this happen contact us for information how to fix this issue.

Can you convert my MyGIG USA navigation unit to European standards with working databases?

Yes we can. But first, make sure that you have a model with navigation. Some "Cheap Charlie" models don't have navigation but only a radio. MyGIG is market with any of following markings REN, REU, REP, RER, REW and REZ. This is important information for us and should be included when contacting us.
  • REN - Without navigation, and with or without Satellite radio
  • REP - RER for South Africa, Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand
  • RER - Navigation + radio for USA/Canada
  • REU - With navigation and remote display screen
  • REW - RER for Europe
  • REZ - REN for South Africa, Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand

Do I need to send the whole MyGIG system?

No, in general we only require customers to send the head unit.

I have a MyGIG model REN. I want to get the navigation to?

The REN version (USA) is a radio only and cannot be upgraded to meet your requirements.

Will my USA MyGIG become a real European REW MyGIG after converted?????

Yeas, just like from factory.

Why must I set the MyGIG's DVD-region coding in the vehicle configuration (CANbus) system??

This is a old issue that we now have solved. Today 99% of all MyGIG is successfully locked to DVD region 2. There are no need any longer to set the DVDregion in the CANbus system unless you upgrade the cars software. After it will attempt to overwrite the DVD-values in the MyGIG.

How many times can you change the USA or Europe settings for the DVD-player in the vehicle configuration (CANbus) system??

We believe that maximum 5 times can be done. After that the DVD-player of MyGIG goes down into Lock-Mode. And you are not able to change DVD-region any more.

The MyGIG I sent to you had no security code. Now I have a security code??

MyGIG for Europe (REW) have a security code. USA version (RER) have not. Our standard installation-code are: 1111 or 1234

I'm with the USA forces in Europe. Can I convert and the re-convert my MyGIG system (RER to REW and later back to RER).

No!! For the moment there are no other companies offering MyGIG re-conversion service (REW to RER). We don't offer REW to RER.

Do I need to buy a radio converter as well to get the MyGIG radio to work??

No, our radio converters are for older cars with a stand alone FM-stereos. Your MyGIG FM-radio will have full functionality. The SIRUS radio will not work as it has no satellite coverage in Europe.

Can I convert my old REJ navigation system?

REJ is the European version. REC is for USA. One of the differences is that REJ and REC use a DVD to store maps (MyGIG a hard-disk). REC can not be converted to REJ as they have total different hardware's.

I have a USA REC and want to watch region 2 movies from DVD.

Install a extern DVD-player to aux. You may find that on the front.

Are the diffirent types of MyGIG's

Yeas there are a lowspeed MyGIG and a high speed MyGIG (for CANbus system CAN B and CAN C).

That can not be done. You could buy a special CANbus adapter-Lockpick from us and then install a Low-speed MyGIG into a car with a Low-speed Canbus system. New cars are already prepaired for MyGIG and you don't need adapters.
